Duane McLaughlin Runs the NYC Marathon
Legend has it that upon the conclusion of the Battle of Marathon, a Greek runner was sent to Athens to give word of their victory over the Persians. After running approximately 26 miles, the runner entered the city walls and shouted “Nenikēkamen!” – meaning they were victorious.
The story of the marathon originates in Greece, so it is only fitting that Duane McLaughlin trained for the New York City Marathon while in Greece. I’m proud to announce that after months of dedicated preparation, Duane successfully completed the New York City Marathon on Sunday – and showed that he was truly “Ready to Run.”
Duane is blessed with an incredible amount of talent, but he has always used his gifts to help others. His completion of the New York City Marathon on behalf of the Make-a-Wish Foundation is just further proof of Duane’s selfless manner. He is an amazing individual – and a true asset to Conquer Entertainment and our family. I’m blessed to have him in my life – and today I salute Duane for the HERO that he is.
While the ancient Greek runner ran to spread the word of victory, Duane ran to spread hope. Hope for the Children of the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Southern Florida. Duane’s grueling four hour run was an inspiration to us all, but it’s no surprise to us. He is a deeply spiritual person, and it really shines through in his music.
