Lead by example and share your success story
So you want to get ahead in life? Sure, you can follow the conveyor belt in life - school, job, more schooling, family, grandkids, etc... But does that really get you to your own personal goals? A lot of times, we rely on this conveyor belt for our own happiness and to get us to where we want to be. In most cases, it doesn't because we are left feeling unfulfilled in many key areas.
In March, I went on a ten city tour for the 2011 Market America Blitz Tour, where I spoke to thousands of entrepreneurs on the importance of building an on-going stream of residual income so that they can live the life they've dreamed of instead of someone else's life.
There are obviously numerous ways to get there -- some people are lucky and fall into such a situation. Others must struggle before they finally make it. One thing though that everyone who strives for success should be doing is to lead by example. We all want to be somebody, so the best way to do this is to find someone who interests us and to model our own lives after their's.
As I often say, "you cannot lead where you will not go, and you cannot teach what you do not know." By studying someone and then modeling our lives after theirs and leading through our own actions -- helping out others, giving of ourselves, getting involved on social networks by actively showing people your business, becoming a resource and not just a spectator on the sidelines, etc... Together, we all stand to gain more in the long-run. This also becomes a springboard to bigger and better things.
Thing about it - when you want to know something, who do we often seek out? People that are already successful at something, not the person who sits there and waits for things to happen.
To help motivate you all and get you started down the path to success, here's a little exercise. I would like everyone that attended the 2011 Market America Blitz Tour to take a moment and share their story with us - we're even running a contest too, with one winner per month receiving a $100 gift card and a 30 minute call with a Blitz Tour Speaker.
The key thing to remember is that by sharing your success story, it also helps motivate others who may have been on the fence, to seek you out because they see your story being similar to their own and are then hungry to learn more.
So are you ready to start leading by example? Get started by entering the "Share Your Success Story" contest.
Keep growing. I believe in you.

Market America acquires Shop.com, creates social shopping site
As I sit here and ponder the strides that my young company, Market America, has made over the past year, one cannot help but be amazed. What started out of a garage with my beautiful wife, Loren Ridinger, has blossomed into something remarkable. Earlier this year, we launched the ma Cashback program, where we pay you up to 50% cashback on your purchases. If you refer others, we pay you 1/2% on their purchases too. Since the launch, we've added more stores, increased cashback amounts, and made a huge push into solidifying our place among the elite online retailers, but we're still hungry. Today marks a historical moment - a magic moment for us, the acquisition of a company that will help to bring together our people power with their technology and merchandising capabilities - I'm talking about the acquisition of Shop.com by Market America.

I’m constantly stressing the need to attend events for a number of reasons. For starters, as an entrepreneur, it is important to know what it is that you have available – whether it is new products, a redesigned website, or to see first-hand, new enhancements that will help you to grow your business.
Secondly, events are an important time to network with new prospects and to meet with your team that may be scattered around different parts of the country. While social networking has helped cut-down on the need to get together and meet face-to-face as much, events are a great time to come back together as a team to discuss all that you’ve accomplished (or are looking to accomplish) during the year.
A third reason why you should attend events is so that you can recharge your batteries. Have you ever tried starting a car or used your cell phone with a weak battery? No matter how much you will for it to start or to let you make a call, it just won’t fly. Sometimes you need to recharge your own batteries too as a means of jump-starting yourself. With a full battery, it can help propel you to reach new goals and re-energize you.
One last reason though why you should attend events is for unique opportunities. It could be the chance to meet a famous celebrity or in this case, a chance to win a meet and greet with me personally.
So to help kick-off the 2010 Market America International Convention, I’m offering one (1) person that chance to meet with me at the 2010 Market America International Convention.

10 Questions with Kim Kardashian
Last week, I took some time to sit down with Kim Kardashian to discuss what her life was like -- constantly on the go. She also shared some advice as an entrepreneur for those looking to become one themselves. Take a moment and read 10 Questions with Kim Kardashian.
#1
You have 3.7 million followers on twitter, how has social media changed the way you do business and how has it affected your personal life brand?
I am almost at 4 million! Hoping to get there this week! I really believe I have a brand for my fans and tools like twitter have allowed me to connect and communicate directly with my fans! I get to hear what my fans are asking for an I make sure I can provide them with a product or information.
#2
Over the past few years reality TV has taken over television, practically anyone can become a celebrity without having or needed the experience. Did you ever expect for your show "Keeping up With the Kardashians" to become this successful and what have you learned from it?
We had a fun idea to share our lives on TV and in no way did we ever think it would elevate to this level. We definitely share our craziness and family feuds but there is so much love and heart in our family, I just think people can relate. We have grown closer as a family from this experience and bottom line we love what we do.
Market America grows 34.76% in just one year!
Just wanted to point something on we’ve been pushing the fact that we jumped 12 spots to rank 54 on Internet Retailer which is great (as well as #1 most improved website for user experience on the Top 100 of Internet Retailer), but I would say the most impressive statistic is that we have grown 34.76% in just one year! If you look at Amazon.com, they’re only at 27% growth over last year. Walmart is at 19%. Amway had sales decrease –2%! This a great angle to show that we’re gaining on the number one retailer, FAST!
Well, the 2010 Market America International Convention is almost here. As President and CEO of Internet retailer, Market America, I spend a great deal of my time ensuring that we’re headed in the right direction. This includes attending conferences, pouring through copious amounts of data and studying what others in the industry are doing. Many of you that know me are aware of how much emphasis I place on building from event to event and being at Market America's International Convention (August 5-8, 2010) or at any event if you’re passionate about a cause.
While we have seen the proliferation of social media over the past year, nothing replaces actually being there and experiencing everything firsthand (and who say’s you can’t do both). It is like watching the Super Bowl on television vs. actually being there. There is a certain electricity that takes place – to stimulate, recharge and to energize those that are in attendance. Am I not right?
How many times have you said to yourself, I would really like to attend that event, but yet you still haven’t? What is it that is holding you back?
Well, it is time to start moving those roadblocks and to put yourself into position to be there. If it is a financial limitation, consider getting yourself out of the rut by trying something different. If you’re worried about not being very well connected, have you reached out to others and tried to network with them? Whatever your roadblock may be, start taking the necessary steps to move them, one by one.
To help you begin to move those roadblocks out of your way, I’m giving two (2) people the opportunity to win one (1) ticket each to the 2010 Market America International Convention where you can network and meet with other like-minded entrepreneurs.
Here is how to enter:
- Become a fan of Market America on Facebook.
- Become a fan of JR Ridinger on Facebook.
- Leave a comment on this post and tell me how what you feel your roadblock is and how you will overcome it.
- Send me an email once you’ve completed all of the above requirements at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and include your username, email address that you posted under.
Note: giveaway ends Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at midnight.

As an entrepreneur, you’re well aware that taking chances and forecasting where the industry may be headed is all part of the game called business. As President and CEO of Internet retailer, Market America, it is my job, as captain of the ship, to make decisions and guide the company and steer its direction so that we end up at our destination. Often times, decisions require a significant amount of thought and sometimes, a little redirection so that we stay on course. That’s why, as an entrepreneur, and captain of your own financial freedom, it is important to put yourself into position to take advantage of any opportunities that might come your way. This way, you’re not just a one-trick pony.
Over the past couple of week’s, I’ve been holding a number of giveaways tied into said opportunities; the opportunity to win an Apple iPad, an mp3 player with motivational tracks – all items that you can use as entrepreneurs to further your own business.
This week’s giveaway is a little different -- it ends Monday, June 28, 2010 – and it is an opportunity to make a difference by supporting breast cancer research. In exchange, you’ll be entered for a chance to win two (2) tickets to the upcoming 2010 Market America International Convention (which is a sold-out event).
Click here to read the complete rules and to enter this giveaway.
Good luck everyone and give yourself a pat on the back for taking advantage of this opportunity to put others first and support those in need, upon which you’ll also be rewarded.
