What Dreams are Made of…

This business never ceases to amaze me. Where else can you combine business, family and paradise? Take a look at this short video. “This is what Dreams are Made of!” Van Halen! This is a family business. Corporately it started that way and there couldn’t be a more talented, smarter/genius or dedicated Corporate team members and executives than Loren Ridinger and COO, Mark Ashley. The same goes for Amber and Duane as they grow into new roles in the business as part of our team.

We are all full throttle all the time in different capacities and directions. We rarely get to spend time and think, and plan. But getting away as a family is also getting away as a business. We get to spend quality time and recharge and brainstorm and plan. Things like Shop.com integration – making Shop.com powered by MA a shopping platform for music labels and a host of other sites, using HSN relationship to brand MA, Meeton.com as the new social streaming breakthrough and using Shop.com as the exclusive merchandizing and shopping platform.

Why not do it in paradise and an environment that spawns creativity and sets the example of a lifestyle for others! A rough way to make a living! In a digital age our offices are always with us so we can stay connected, pass on ideas and instructions, monitor things, meet with people over cyber space, promote the business through blogs and SN’s create content, and discuss things with each other that we have not been able to focus on in the rate race at home.

Loren, Maria Cheka and Amber are able to do creative work and promotions for Motives. They come up with training and cosmetic design ideas. Marc and I discuss developing API’s for shopping to take our site anywhere, to increase traffic to Shop.com and become a universal shopping platform. And we do it on the aft deck of a boat or at lunch overlooking the Med and the Greek Isles.

We flew in Andrei Dalia, our Internet engineer and developer architect for MeetOn.com, who came from Romania to be with us for 3 days in Greece to plan and brainstorm – invaluable time spent with business contacts and each other. I can’t help that our business team is family too! It also just happened to be Amber’s and Marc’s birthday during the trip. What are we supposed to do—not celebrate?

We met with Amber and Duane on music, being content executives for MeetOn. Amber’s plans to launch young Fashion lines, Jewelry designs and involvement in Motives. Duane shot this video and several other content photo albums, a Ready to Run Video, and lifestyle videos for content on Meeton.com, MA TV, blogs and SN’s. Now that’s fun business.

Of course we also spent 4 days in London meeting with John Pincott, head of the London Shop.com and Market UK operation. We also met with the staff and brought them up to spread on the business and the UK launch. Loren, Maria and Amber visited partner stores, met with Motves pro artists, did market and merchandizing research in major stores – and we met with Christain LouBoutin about marketing collaborations.

We explored possibilities of partnering with Lenix Lewis or Sarah Ferguson to build the business in the field as a team. London was and is magnificent! We even had beautiful weather! Is that an Omen? Every day was paradise. Everyday we were with family. And everyday we were doing  business.

The IRS struggles to understand this, but it is what it is. Today you can travel anywhere, be with your partners and family and be in your digital office – staying connected, promoting and marketing products and the business – everyone you meet is a prospect or potential customer.  We accomplished more in this 11 days than most people do in months and we came back recharged, refreshed, focuses, inspired and closer as family.

People say we are are on vacation because we are in paradise, but really we are at the digital office in paradise – as a family that just happens to be our business partners, executives and corporate team.
