The brands that have enjoyed the most success using social media to drive consumers toward purchases follow one of two paths: Either they offer coupons or discounts, or they position themselves in front of consumers during sales or other special events, according to eMarketer.One-quarter of respondents to a survey conducted by Chadwick Martin Bailey said that coupons and discounts were the primary reason they became fans of a brand on Facebook.An additional 21 percent said it was because they were already customers. Another survey, by Morpace, found that 37 percent of Facebook users joined fan pages because they wanted to get coupons and discounts.

Wow! I couldn't resist taking a few minutes to talk about the proliferation of selling across a number of different websites. BE OUTSPOKEN: Speak your mind! You will probably anger 50,000 other people enough to force them to be your follower. Be Spontaneous! Twitter followers who are anxious to follow someone who is not boring them to tears. Spice it up, speak your mind. There's nothing more entertaining than controversy.
DON'T BE A PRODUCT PUSHER: Make it fund and different and event controversial. Build your loyalty, don't push products onto people daily. Tweeples don't like to follow spammers.
ASK QUESTIONS: Tweeplos love cool snappy questions. Ask them about their experience. Ask opinions, think outside the box. For example @andrewweissman did you know elephants can't jump?
INTERACT: Introduce people to one another, engage in other's conversations. Always thank people or show them some love. Tweeplos like to feel like they are celebrities in their own community shout them out, send them some xoxo, tell them they rock in the twitter world this means a lot.
SHARE VALUABLE CONTENT: Wether is an article, video or audio tweeplos don't want jelly they want to learn something new every day, that is probably one of the reasons they are following you in the first place.

Google's Android operating system continues to shake up the mobile industry moving and surpassing the iPhone to take the No.2 position among other smart phones operating systems based on the NPD Group, market research firm. iPhone owners, are heavy users of apps and the mobile web while blackberry owners tend to use their devices primarily for business purposes. Android phones are more like iPhone users, they buy the device for personal, not business, use and focus on apps and the mobile web.
