Conquer Entertainment: The Future of the Music Industry

There is a paradigm shift and marketing revolution taking place right now. Social shopping is the future of commerce, and if you want to be successful you must position yourself to capitalize on this paradigm shift. When you are able to do so, you will be leading the parade, rather than following.

Brick and mortar is being replaced by click and order, and we buy what our friends recommend, not what mass media advertising shoves down our throat. Much like retail, the music industry is in a similar state of upheaval, and recording artists are facing major challenges when it comes to revenue. In many cases, artists only make money unless they tour and do concerts.

Music downloads and iTunes is turning the game upside down, and everyone is scrambling to find the perfect solution. Why? Music is so important that redefining its distribution and monetization system is more powerful than TV, iTunes, Google, and major record labels combined.

Music “defines” people more so than any other attribute that can be used in One to One marketing.  Everyone loves music as it is a universal, timeless, and eternal tonic in life that the world will never be without. You don’t have to “sell” music - people already want to buy music!

I believe that the future of the monetization of music lies in two new paradigms: Lifestyle Marketing and Sponsorships / Advertising (similar to NASCAR, TV, or Radio). That may come after subscriptions and ala carte memberships, but it will come. It requires the best functionality, huge traffic, conversions (we have the key to that), and branding. It will happen because it is the only thing that makes sense and has the ability to break the iTunes monopoly.

All of your life you listened to radio and TV for free – but how? Who paid the actors, producers and stars or movie makers or content providers?  Advertising!!! It worked for years because it simply works! Imagine free music for a star tomorrow that you follow and love. How much traffic would that drive? The best part is its demographic-specific, and you can give the advertiser the data on the customers or visitors. I’ll get into the specifics on how it works at a later date, but in the meantime keep NASCAR in the back of your mind.

Music and Lifestyle Merchandizing will be the Major Marketing Platform of the Future!

Lifestyle marketing is genius! It taps into one of the most powerful influencers in the world: MUSIC! People will always love and buy music – in fact, the music people buy, and the artists they identify with help define who they are. When a consumer visits a site to listen to and purchase music, you have someone who not only likes and identifies with the artist, but someone who wants to be like the artist.

A great way to capitalize on this is to fill the page where you purchase and download the music with additional items related to the artist that enrich the music purchasing experience.  Adding relevant content and magnetic merchandise would have a tremendous impact, especially with content such as: concert tickets, tours, videos, memorabilia, merchandise, other music by the artist, similar artists, emerging Conquer artists, and artist-branded products like cologne, perfume, vitamins, their brand of isotonic formula accessories, jewelry, handbags, and clothing.

What about the name brands or designers that the artists wear? Even electronics, gadgets, appliances, exercise equipment, instruments, tools, cars, bicycles, skis or snow boards, books, etc. - the merchandizing possibilities are almost limitless. Imagine clicking on a picture of the artist with what they wear or use, and as you hover your cursor over the different items it displays information related to the product(s) like in ShopBox, and click to put it in the one cart.

People want to be like and live like their favorite artists, icons, stars, or celebrities – so they are automatically more inclined to buy the items associated with them. They want the lifestyle. This is why LIFESTYLE MARKETING or MERCHANDISING works!

You have just seen how difficult it is to put a universal shopping cart together, with global intuitive-narrowing search, remembering the customer, and providing turn-key ecommerce and processing an order over numerous vendors/merchants, with thousands of vendors and 35 million products. That would be extremely difficult if not impossible for someone else to duplicate on their own.

We already have the assets and platform! Even companies like Universal Music Group can’t pull this off  - they actually asked us to do it! In fact, all 4 major music labels gave us their libraries licenses to less 15 million mainstream songs with a rev share as big as iTunes because of what we have. Normally that would cost millions! That should raise an eyebrow or two!

The bottom line is that music and entertainment naturally help sell products.  Just like click and order replaces brick and mortar, so will music and entertainment replace the need for mass media advertising and distribution with lifestyle marketing and merchandizing. It’s all about one to one marketing - the heart and soul of social commerce and shopping. Just think about it for a minute.

It goes far beyond this with Conquer Entertainment and Market America. We not only have an internet-cyberspace presence, but people power and a real monetized community.

The American Idol syndrome demonstrates people’s desire to identify and discover new talent and stars. The traditional model of becoming a star through a label is not only challenged but over. It is an antiquated system, and in many ways treats the artists as indentured servants. The Soulja Boy, Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne phenomenon represents the new paradigm.

There are tens of thousands of artists that are looking for a way to finance their dreams , remain independent, distribute their music, and put themselves on the map. Conquer and 3.0 not only provides an internet site and platform to do that, but listeners will also be able to discover emerging artists like the mainstream stars they love.

Artists have loyal fan bases that are passionate about them and want to see the unlabeled independent artist make it. What if they could fund their music dream and passion through shopping for the same products they already buy - but at a discount, with free shipping and Cashback? It’s called transfer buying and it doesn’t cost them a dime – rather it saves them money while supporting their favorite artists with an income.

Simultaneously the artists can sell music not only to their own fan base, but though cyberspace and the MA community of UFO’s and customers. The artist is set up in the Established Artist program which puts them and their fans in the MPCP like an NPO. This is incredible and can bring thousands of PC’s and distributors into the business quickly.

Not only that, but once again we have lifestyle merchandizing around the Conquer artists, driving more sales to a dedicated and loyal audience. This is all dynamically and ingeniously driven and supported by the Conquer 3.0 systems of fans as PCs or distributors, Artists as ULO’s, CADs that promote and run the artists and fans in the MPCP. That all ties into a line of partnership in the MPCP, giving all the UFO’s in line a financial interest in the action, essentially incentivizing their interest and support. This establishes a new Market America University major similar to Motives, nutriMetrics, WebCenters, or Transitions.

The Bottom line is simple - it attracts new demographics, is GenY centric, sells music, sells products, drives traffic, and transforms large fan bases into customer bases and distributor/UFO organization. I call it musical economic genius.

This will redefine how music is distributed and monetized, and be the new “Unlabel” platform to discover artists and ultimately help them make it!

Amazing! Thank you for breaking this down JR. If you were not leading the parade initially change the Parade route and start leading it from there!

I remember back when my friends and I would go to Vintage Vinyl in Fords,NJ and look for the most obscure bands. We would drop 10 bucks just to see if we liked the band. I love that I can go online and do the same thing only I don't have to pay anything to check out a new artist and I can make money by doing it. I also love that this business models enable doctors, rock stars, makeup artists, and online shoppers to be able to make money together! Imagine leveraging a doctor's expertise with a recording artists new hit single in a combined program where everyone benefits, mind boggling. This is actually too much fun.

JR, this is brilliant! I blatantly plagerized a bunch of this article and added some other stats to create a Conquer webinar for prospects. I never "got it" until this post! You are a true genius. I couldn't imagine a more revolutionary mentor to follow! Thanks, Tami Gaines

LeBron James, perhaps the biggest celebrity in all of sports, a man poised to be a billionaire and prop of the economy of whatever city he works in, decided to move there too.
